Church Saga
Things have been smooth in the initial wedding planning stages for Sean and me. We have been pleasantly surprised how easy it has been. However, now that we are at the ”three month mark,” things have changed! I remember exactly when it hit me - walking down the aisle at John’s wedding and my legs began shaking so bad that I could barely walk in a straight line. I was thinking to myself, “Jenny, you’re only a bridesmaid! Calm down!â€? Haha!
Back to the original subject of this blog -Â The Church…
Most of you know that I lost my job this summer, and I decided that I would make the best of the situation and work hard on planning a lot of our wedding. The first task was to find a church and a reception site. So, I went to visit First Baptist Church of Marietta and fell in love with their chapel. It was small and quaint, the floor was elevated so that everyone could see, the pews were uniquely curved in towards the alter, and the original tiled ceilings and stained glass were a finishing touch. So, we immediately put down a deposit to hold our date, and the last I was old, everything was fine. That was in June.
Well, I’m once again sitting at work when my cell phone rings. (I really need to stop answering it at work!) It is the wedding coordinator from the church. She proceeds to tell me that my wedding has not officially been approved, and the associate pastor/minister of music wanted to cancel my wedding date and time. The question that really sent me through the roof was, “Have you already gotten your invitations printed yet? Oh my! With only two and a half months before the wedding, that question really sent me through the roof, and I slowly felt my ears turning red as I really tried hard to keep my cool.
Marilynn, the wedding coordinator, was a great sport, and went to battle for me with the music minister that day. She called me the next day to tell me that everything was approved and for me not to worry because she knew how upset I was. The funny thing: she asked the music minister what he wanted to have in the chapel that day, and he didn’t even have an answer for her! UGH!
But, that is besides that point… all is well with the wedding. Everything is now approved, and the last minute details are now being worked out. Pray for us as we go into the holidays and work through all the last minute details!!!
