The Flower Lady

November 17th, 2006 by Jenny

The weekend after my brother’s wedding, my mom planned to make a visit so that we could finalize the majority of my wedding plans. Knowing she wouldn’t be back until Christmas, I packed our weekend full! One of the main items we had not yet tackled was the flowers. So, I called the church and asked who they would recommend for my wedding flowers, one of which was Marietta Flower Shop. They seemed to have great reviews, so with a month’s advance notice, I called to make an appointment.

Everything was as smooth as glass until the night mom flew into Atlanta. I was sitting at work wrapping up the day, and my cell phone rings. It’s Marietta Flower Shop… DUM, DUM, DUM, DUMMMMMMM… we all see where this is going, don’t we? Jan calls and tells me that she has an opportunity to go down to Destin for the weekend, and although she knew my mom was visiting from out of town, she wanted to reschedule our appointment for another time. This is TWO days before our scheduled appointment that I planned over a month prior!

Least to say, I was very disappointed and rather upset that a business would do that to a potential customer. Just the fact of how inconsiderate it was to call two days prior to an appointment made over a month before to take off to Destin was enough to get perturbed. So, with only two days to work with, I called Barbara at Owens Flower Shop. It turned out to be a HUGE blessing that we got to work with Barbara! Mom and I both enjoyed talking to her and showing her what we had in mind, and she was very knowledgeable about what we were looking for and how to bring it all together. She even went out of her way to visit the church and the reception site to make sure what we picked out would work in the space provided!

It just goes to show that things work out for a reason :)
