Christmas 2006

December 26th, 2006 by Jenny

This Christmas was a very eventful Christmas for us. We spent the weekend in North Carolina with my parents in their new house. They recently bought and renovated an old house in Goldston, NC, and it has been dramatically transformed. Congratulations, Mom and Dad!

We drove back on Sunday afternoon, and contemplated what we wanted to do with our Christmas Eve. Do we start a new tradition? We were very tired, so we decided to spend it by the fire while we played video games :)

Christmas morning was spent opening our gifts together. Sean got a new golf bag, a mini-helicopter that flies indoors (very cool!) and some clothes for our honeymoon. I got a beautiful set of pearls (necklace, bracelet and earrings), a new dress coat and a cute pair of gloves with a matching hat. Once we opened our gifts, we drove to Sean’s dad’s house for Christmas brunch. After opening gifts and watching a movie together, we drove down to John and Megan’s to meet back up with mom and dad for the Roginsky Family Christmas. We enjoyed our evening together, and the guys tried out a new racing game on John’s XBox 360.

Overall, Christmas was quite different this year… We have three immediate families now; Sean’s dad & family, Sean’s mom & family, and my parents. Where we once had our own family Christmas with grandmothers, aunts, uncles and cousins, we now have a hard time visiting with everyone in our immediate family. I guess as we grow up and start our own families, we have to end some traditions to begin new ones. It’s not an easy process, but it is exciting to think I am beginning new traditions with my new family, and keeping some of the old ones too. Now I understand why people have family reunions in the summer!

We love you all and miss the ones we were unable to see over the holidays! We look forward to seeing you soon at the wedding! Happy New Year!
