Six Weeks to Go!

December 18th, 2006 by Jenny

Here we are with only 47 days left until “the big day!” I can hardly believe it! This weekend, Sean and I mailed out our wedding invitations, and my mom called me today in tears telling me she had just read my wedding and rehearsal dinner invitations, and it was too overwhelming all for one day :)

It is a little overwhelming when you think about it, but this year’s journey has been the most exciting time in my life. I often find myself stressed out over the little things, but I am really proud of myself for keeping things in perspective and enjoying every aspect of our engagement. Letting Sean buy me 15 wedding magazines the weekend we got engaged, looking at mom’s collage of ideas for flowers and colors, hearing my dad’s voice quiver as he tells me he loves me, celebrating with my brother as he walked down the ailse a few months ago, spending time with my family-in-law over dinner and movies… this past year has been full of priceless memories that I’ll never forget.

Here is a summary of the past few months: Sean and I have had two wedding showers. We have refinanced our house and made some drastic home improvements, which you have heard about in previous blogs. The big items have been planned, invitations have been mailed, and only a few small things are left to assemble. In the midst of it, we have had time to buy a real, 8-ft. Frasier Fir as our gorgeous Christmas tree (the largest tree I have ever had!), and we have decorated and continue to enjoy the holidays with family and friends. We are changing light fixtures, cabinet handles and hinges and small things in the house to make it “ours.” Our dogs are acclamating to each other, even if there is a seven year difference, even if Tucker makes Reo limp occasionaly with his rough-housing (Reo is a saint to put up with it!). Life is definiately good!

My stomach has started doing flips, and I have started letting out silly giggles with all the anticipation and excitement right around the corner. Tonight at dinner, I was picturing our waiter as a cartoon character, and Sean really thinks I’ve lost my mind! HAHA… I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve trying to go to sleep before Santa comes but being too excited to calm down enough to lay still :) Well, that’s about it for now. Have a Merry Christmas, and we’ll see you in the New Year!
