11 More Weeks To Go!
It’s hard to believe that we have reached the final months of pregnancy. With each passing day, we are anticipating our new role as parents, and we can’t wait to see what our little Jack looks like! I’ve started feeling pretty anxious about the labor and delivery part of pregnancy. I worry about if my water will break in public, how long I’ll be in labor, if I’ll make it to the hospital, if the epidural will work right, if Jack will be healthy, etc. I know that none of those things can be controlled, but the reality of it is starting to hit me. I trust that God will be right there with us, and I know it will be fine in the end. You still can’t help thinking about it though.
Sean has been so great in helping me around the house when I need it. He cleaned the bathroom for me and vacuumed the kitchen. He always has to carry laundry up and down stairs, since my belly got in the way of the laundry basket, not to mention I have gotten pretty clumsy these days! He does countless things for me all the time, and he has been the perfect husband - so supportive of me being pregnant. It’s nice to have a husband who thinks you’re beautiful when you’re carrying his child. Especially, when I’m looking at my body wondering what in the world happened to me and hoping it will go back to normal! Haha!
This weekend, we ordered our glider for the nursery from The Comfortable Chair Store. It had to be special ordered, so it will arrive in 8 weeks. Just in time, hopefully! The lady did tell us that they keep two gliders available in the back in case the baby makes an early appearance and our glider hasn’t come in yet. Talk about customer service! It is a honey-colored wood glider (matches the nursery furniture) with a light sage bumble bee fabric that perfectly matches our Classic Pooh nursery. The ottoman that comes with it even has a pull-out nursing stool! I love it! (Can’t you tell by all of the exclamation points in this paragraph?)
We also made several trips to Babies R Us this weekend trying to find gates that worked in our wacky-built house. You don’t realize how important it is for walls to match up evenly until you try to install baby gates! We got one for the top set of stairs that works really well and can be moved around when needed (hands free too!), and we bought one that is mounted in the TV room/playroom doorway that pulls out from the wall and attaches to the other side of the doorway (basically just to keep the dogs out and Jack in while he is playing). As for the bottom set of stairs, the way the walls are laid out makes a gate installation (whether mounted or pressure-enforced) impossible, so we just gave up with putting a gate there at all. I can’t wait to find our RANCH-style home that we so desperately want in a few years! No gates needed then!
Our last 3-week appointment is next week, and then our OB is moving us to 2-week appointments. YAY! I find it very calming and reassuring to go that often and hear the heartbeat. That way, I know everything is going alright without having a month-long span to worry about how often the baby is moving and whether or not there may be a problem. The baby is definitely getting stronger. His kicks and punches make my stomach bounce, which is pretty funny. I’m carrying him pretty high, so I have often made a tray out of the top of my belly to eat Pop-Tarts while watching TV - that really cracks Sean up! Jack has found my ribs, so he must be getting longer. There have been times I haven’t been able to stretch enough to keep him from getting a foot under my ribs - that hurts!
The first of February is an exciting time for us. We start having our baby showers, take our first set of pregnancy classes, and pack our hospital bag just in case something happens earlier than expected. Stay tuned for next week’s doctor’s appointment!

Hi Jenny- wow 11 more weeks?!
So excited for you guys.
I am starting to research gates, and there are a lot of neat new ones out there.
Here is a link to one recommended by some other friends. Not sure if this would fit your specific stairways or not.
