Happy New Year
We woke up to a cold, gusty day on January 1, 2008. Our weather is always so unpredictable in the South, and I was so excited to hear the wind this morning and be warm and cozy under my sheets. I just laid in bed awake for awhile and thought about what 2008 would bring. That mainly consists of our soon-to-be new arrival. I can’t imagine how much our life is going to change with a little one around the house.
I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with Baby Jack (only 97 more days to go), and we are both excited and a little apprehensive as time starts to get closer. Sean and I both have started reading baby books on parenting, and the majority of our late night conversations revolve around how we want to raise our kids and the type of parents we want to be. I remember going through premarital counseling and talking about our individual families and the things we both wanted to do the same and the things we wanted to leave behind. It’s humbling to think that this is OUR family, and we get to choose how we want to raise our kids on our own - something that has made me miss less and less prayer time during the week.
Some of my new year’s resolutions are to:
- Take our childbirth/breastfeeding/first aid baby classes
- Have a closer relationship with God by spending more time in prayer and Bible study
- Successfully get through labor and delivery without freaking out too much (I’m scared to death of needles!)
- Be a godly example and loving parent to our baby
- Spend quality time with Sean and not to neglect him as a new mother
- Eat healthier, more balanced meals (I try, but this is a hard one for me.)
Happy 2008 to you all! I hope God blesses you in a special way this new year!
