Baby Jack Update
Even before we meet him for the first time, I think our son has already developed personality traits from his parents. One of those would be his mother’s stubbornness. He just doesn’t want to come out!
Last night, I took more advice from the book of old wives tales and ate a spicy dinner. John and Megan met us at Longhorns, and we indulged in all sorts of yummy food - from the firecracker chicken wraps to the fried cheesecake. I’m such a bad food influence when I’m pregnant! By the time we got home, I was already feeling crampy and didn’t tolerate sitting too well. So, off I went to take a warm hot bath and try to get my back to stop hurting.
What I didn’t realize was that the back pain was part of a strong wave of contractions. So, Sean and I started timing them. These were much stronger than the ones I had experienced last Saturday. They ended up being 9 minutes apart for an hour, and the back pain was very intense. Then, POOF! They were gone. ARG! (The OB told me last week that this could happen two or three more times before real labor starts.) So, we decided to stop timing them and try to rest. I woke up repeatedly all night long hurting and with the same back pain, so I knew I was having contractions that were waking me up. They just weren’t in a consistent pattern. So, I finally just got up and decided to take a hot shower.
Least to say, I’m pretty tired today. I still have a dull back ache that won’t go away, so I think this is far from over. I lost my mucus plug this morning, which is a sign that labor is right around the corner - could be today or it could be a week from today - but it’s a good sign. By the way, that was the GROSSEST thing I have ever seen in my life! We’ll skip those details for everyone’s sakes! HA! Sean and I plan on going to the park today and walking more to try to get things moving. We may make a small detour to the mall to buy ROCK BAND so that I can take my frustration out on the drums while we wait for real labor to actually start. Don’t doubt my drumming skills! I’m pretty good!
Hope y’all have a good weekend! Keep us in your prayers!
