How Much More Miserable Do I Have To Be???????????????
At my appointment this past Monday, I was pretty tired and uncomfortable but doing well for being due in two weeks. Well, it seems after that visit, everything changed! I started feeling a tremendous amount of pressure “down below” and my tailbone was really hurting. So, I knew the baby had moved down further into my pelvis. Inevitably due to all of that excess pressure, I woke up at 2:30 this morning in excruciating pain. It felt like my backside was on fire! I got up from bed and thought standing may help…. nope. So, I sat down thinking maybe that would help…. nope. I literally could not sit, stand or lay down without being in a lot of pain. So, I get up at the crack of dawn to get in the shower and get dressed because I knew the OB would want to see me today. They squeezed me in first thing this morning, and I have been blessed with an internal hemorrhoid! ACK!!!!!!!!!!! The problem with those - constant pressure causing the pain that will only get worse until I deliver this baby! WHAT?!?!?!?! So, I got some “cream” and pain medicine this morning to try and help me get through this, but I have never been so miserable in all of my life. As Sean said, “Thank you God for making me a boy.” HAHA!
To make sure I wasn’t in labor, she went ahead and did an internal exam while I was there. I was still lingering around 2.5cm dilation, but the baby’s head was very low. So, she “stretched” me out to 3cm and stripped my membranes. What is that, you may ask? Basically, it’s when the OB uses a finger or two and manually separates the amniotic sac from the uterus in a small section close to the cervix. Uh yeah! I didn’t quite know what it all entailed until she was doing it, and I almost screamed out loud in pain. I was inches from coming off of the table because it hurt so bad. OUCH! But I hung in there and tried to breathe my way through it, and since then have had some contraction activity, although it has not become consistent. You’re body has to be close to labor for the procedure to help you along, so it may or may not work, but it’s worth a shot! Some women will go into labor within 24-48 hours after this is done, so we shall see.
So, that’s my day so far. Purely miserable since 2:30 a.m. and hoping I can get some relief soon. It seems the only real relief will be having this baby, so please pray it happens for us soon!
