The Waiting Game
Yes, yes, another post from yours truly. We are now in “the waiting game” stage of pregnancy. This is when everyone calls to ask how you’re feeling, how doctor appointments went and to make sure they are on “the call list” for when you have the baby. HA! All of that is fine. I appreciate the calls. However, some days I am so ready for him to be here that I try to plan out my day so that I stay busy and not think about when my next contraction will be or if he will come early.
I’m also a lot more emotional and moody lately. I don’t feel well a lot of the time, so please forgive me. When you’ve had cramps all morning, your back aches, you got up every hour during the night, and you pee every 15 minutes during the day, it just gets tiring and tends to stretch your patience a little. I find that giving myself a few errands to run each day helps a lot with keeping peace of mind and positive thoughts flowing. I guess I feel like I’ve accomplished something and also the fresh air and sunshine does a lot for the soul. Lunch with friends helps too!
Lately, I have had a lot of cramping, kind of like bad menstrual cramps. They are beginning to get more of a “peak” to them, meaning I can tell they feel more like a contraction where the pain is more like a wave. It starts out hurting a little bit, builds into hurting a lot and then relaxes again to just a crampy feeling. The doctor said that is my body starting to get into more of a pattern and getting prepared for the real contractions. At least there is progress being made!
I also have started getting spurts of energy during the day, which is allowing me to get some last minute things done around the house. Yesterday, I did two loads of laundry and then went a took a two-hour nap. Last night, I vacuumed the bathrooms and then laid down on the couch with Sean to watch a two-hour movie. See a pattern here? HA! Today, I’m planning on trying to finish painting the bookshelf for the nursery. The problem isn’t the energy spurts but the fatigue after it all goes away - haha. Sean has been so sweet and helpful this week to make dinner for us, since I haven’t been feeling very well in the evenings. He is the best husband in the whole world!!! I’m really going to owe him big time after the baby is born - haha!
