The Big Boy Tub
When we first brought Jack home, we had to give him sponge baths to let his circumcision and belly button heal. We were comfortable using our little bear sponge to lay him on, while we gently bathed him. We had the whole routine down to a science so that he almost would sleep through his baths.
This week, it was time to graduate to his “big boy” tub. It’s nothing fancy - just a plastic, infant tub that they can sit in while getting fully bathed. But it sure was a big deal to us. Jack is growing so fast, and it seemed far too soon to say goodbye to Mr. Bear. We didn’t know if he would love it or hate it, but we went for it. We stripped him down and put him in the warm water, and to our surprise, he seemed to really like it. I poured the warm water over him to keep him warm, and his little eyes just lit up. He was so alert and looking all around.
As we were drying him off and dressing him, we used Mr. Bear as his little mat to lay on. Jack turned his head towards the mirror and seemed to be amazed at his own reflection. He was intently staring at himself while we finished getting him ready for bed. So sweet! It took both of us for the first time of using the tub, but we hope to have pictures of his “big boy” baths to share with you soon.
