Blessed to be a Mom
It’s Mother’s Day, and I never imagined that being a mother would feel this wonderful. Don’t get me wrong; I always knew it would be special, but there is something so amazing about looking down at your child and seeing yourself in him and knowing he holds your very heart and soul. It amazes me how fast he has grown already. He has lost his newborn look, and he is only six weeks old! I cherish every smile, every cry, and every moment he looks up at me.
Sean and I had a rough night last night. Jack didn’t want to go to sleep, and Sean was gracious enough to offer to take him so I could get some rest after it had gotten late. I think we all finally went to sleep around 1:30 a.m. Least to say, church was off for today. It now takes us two and a half hours to get out of the door on Sunday morning, which means we would have had to be up at 5 a.m. Four and a half hours of sleep wasn’t enough to go on for us. I say all of that to say: We were tired! And I had totally forgotten it was Mother’s Day. As Sean heard me get up with Jack, he popped into the bedroom and said, “Good Morning! Happy Mother’s Day!” My heart jumped! I was so excited to be celebrating it for the very first time. As I got downstairs, Sean had biscuits in the oven, and my card and gift was on the breakfast bar. In addition to the beautiful flowers, Sean and Jack bought me a one-hour massage, along with a few “calming” bath products!!! YAY!
My first Mother’s Day has been very special. And I am so proud to be a mom! Sean and Jack, you are more than I could have ever asked for! I love you both very much!
