Two Months Old Already?!
Time is quickly passing by as Jack turned two months old this week. We don’t have our next doctor’s appointment until the middle of the month, so I cannot update you on his weight and height just yet, but I can tell you that he is packing on the pounds and growing by inches each week. Today, he just graduated to Size 2 diapers and wears 3-6 month clothes now.
Jack is becoming quite the character as his little personality is starting to emerge. He has learned to scream when he wants something. That’s real pleasant (enter sarcasm here)! Long gone are the days of that infamous newborn cry. Now it’s more like, “I want it NOWWWWWWWWWW!” Haha. He is starting to become a lot more aware of his surroundings. If his diaper is wet or dirty, he cries. If we are in a strange place, he always looks to me or Sean for a comforting glance. If he gets passed around too much, he will get fussy. He will only ride for an hour in the car before letting out the new screaming cry he has discovered. We still stick pretty close to home for the time being. Trips are not easy for him still, although he will get more flexible the older he gets. That’s just not right now.
Getting Jack on a schedule is the best thing that ever happened to us! However, we have learned to trust our child’s limitations. We have tried to get him to sleep “on the go,” but he doesn’t sleep much in the car or at someone else’s house anymore. He wants to be part of the excitement and see what’s going on around him. If he misses more than one nap, he is impossible that night and the next day. We have a very happy baby boy, but I’m telling you, he will cry and whine all night and day until he gets back on track with his schedule if you overextend him. So, Sean and I have learned that Jack is the boss right now, and we will (mostly) abide by his schedule.
As for me, I’m starting to get motivated to lose the 18 pounds I have left from pregnancy. My friend, Whitney, and I are going to start walking at least twice a week with our babies. (She had her baby one week after I had Jack.) I started taking the mini-pill a few weeks ago, but I had one major problem with it: it lowered my milk supply big time! So, I promptly stopped taking it, and thankfully my milk production is back to normal after about a week. Sean is enjoying being a dad and also is doing well. One day, maybe he will post a blog and let you know how fatherhood is treating him (hint, hint, hint… wink).
Hope everyone is doing well! We’re still trying to fix our picture settings so we can post them on our blog. For now, if you want to see pictures of Jack, visit Sean’s flickr page at http://flickr.com/photos/seanw/.
