Jack turns 9 months old today! He is getting to be such a big boy now. We won’t have his “stats” until his check-up next week, but here are some things Jack is doing now:
- army crawls
- can get to a sitting position from laying down
- can pull himself to a stand (he is usually standing up waiting for us in his crib after naps)
- cruises on furniture and toys
- can stand on his own for a few seconds
- has taken one step
- has eight teeth
- wears 18-month one-piece outfits and 12-18 month shirts/pants
- just moved into a size 5 diaper
- can feed himself snacks (Gerber Puffs mostly) and drink from a sippy cup
- babbles a lot! (mama, dada, baba mostly)
- can associate some words with actual things and look for them when asked where it is
- says “WHOAH” when he sees something new or he likes
- says “MAMA” when he wants his mommy
- says “UP”
- tries to say “MOO” for the cow but it usually turns out “BOO”
- waves
- laughs when you laugh (he loves to mimic what we do)
- wrinkles his little nose now when he wants to be cute or smiles
As you can see, Jack has grown up a lot this month. He is into anything and everything! We really have to keep a close eye on him these days. He is a very happy boy and loves to go on errands with mommy to get out of the house. I try to let him get out at least once a day. He gets doesn’t like being at home all the time. He really enjoys other babies and kids. He will even yell at them if we are out to get their attention. It’s really cute! He went to the nursery for the first time this past month. He only made it through Sunday School, but that’s a good start. He is about to be “promoted” to an older room, since he is so mobile.
Jack loves music and will stop and listen when he hears it. The other day he started dancing while holding onto Sean when some music came on the TV. HA! Very cute! To my surprise, temper tantrums have reared their ugly head lately. He will throw himself down on the floor when he doesn’t get something he wants. The first time he did it, I just stood there staring at him in disbelief. I didn’t even begin to know how to deal with that. I thought that came later! Guess I better get ready, huh? He is definitely a strong-willed child, so I’m sure we will see some more of those. Sean says that he has too much of his mama in him – hehe. I have no idea what he is talking about. *smirks*
We’ll keep you posted on his weight and height when we have his check-up next week.
