Yesterday, we all drove down to Babies R Us to pick up Jack’s conversion kit for his crib. We talked all day about how he was going to get a big boy bed that he could get in and out of all by himself. He seemed really excited about it. So excited, that we decided to go ahead and give it a try last night.
Jack and I went upstairs to watch Sean assemble the new toddler bedrail and install the baby gate at Jack’s door. Jack wasn’t very interested in the construction, but once it was done, he started putting all of his books and toys in his bed. HA! Once he emptied his bookshelf of all books, toys and puzzles, I explained that now we needed to put these back on the bookshelf because his big boy bed was where we slept. So, he helped me put everything back, and he was a pro at climbing in and out of his bed by himself. He was use to standing up in his crib too, so we had to talk to him about how big boys don’t stand up in their beds. He seemed to understand and hasn’t tried it since our talk.
So, it was time to start our bedtime routine. Sean and I took a deep breath and tried to act like it wasn’t any different. Jack crawled right into his bed and layed down, and we never heard a peep from him until 6:30 this morning! WAHOO! He did so well!!!!!!!!!! I was incredibly proud of him! Today’s nap has been a repeat performance. He talked and played in his bed for a little while, but soon settled down and fell asleep. He never got out of his bed or anything! So far, so good!
Our little boy is growing up so fast!
