8 Week Pregnancy Check-up

9wks2

Yesterday, Sean and I went to the OB to get all of my blood work done, have a check-up and see our baby via ultrasound for the very first time. I got through all of the blood work – who needs FOUR vials of blood?! Anyways, I just sat there with my eyes closed while I told myself in my head that I was a big girl. I really HATE needles!

My check-up went well. I got some new meds for my severe nausea. I remember being sick with Jack, but I didn’t have to take medication for it. So, I guess it wasn’t THAT bad. But this time… I am MISERABLE! And I was begging for some medication to help me with the nausea. For various reasons, I had to choose the one that would make me very sleepy, so I only take it at night or when Sean is home. It really knocks me out, but last night was the first night in three weeks that I didn’t have any nausea. When I woke up, I felt completely hung over and could barely open my eyes. It was awful! I guess I’ll try half a tablet tonight, and see if that still helps without completely knocking me out. At least I slept good though, right?!

Finally, we got to the ultrasound! Our little bean had embedded itself high in my uterus, so that was the first uncomfortable ultrasound that I’ve ever had, but seeing our little baby was worth the discomfort. It had a very strong and fast heartbeat. It pretty much looked like a lima bean, but we were excited to know that our little lima bean was a healthy, developing baby! The ultrasound also showed I was a week ahead of what we expected, so my due date was moved up! The same thing happened with Jack, so that was exciting too. With as sick as I’ve been, I loved the idea of being able to knock off a week!

So, there you have it! Baby #2 is healthy and growing!
